Is TYPO3 right for manufacturers?

TYPO3 is a flexible and powerful open-source CMS widely adopted in Europe, particularly for enterprise-level projects, due to its scalability, multi-language support, and strong developer community in the region.

Who Chooses It

TYPO3 powers 143 of the 25,000+ industrial websites we track, ranking 17th of 60 platforms, with a typical site size of around 250 pages.

TYPO3 is a European platform through and through, and its industrial footprint is almost a portrait of the German Mittelstand. Machinery makers dominate, with nearly twice their share of the field, and the specialties run to machine tools and industrial equipment. Better than a third of these sites are multilingual, German first but routinely spanning English, French, Spanish, and Polish, because these are engineering firms that sell across Europe and export worldwide.

These are also substantial sites. Mid-to-large, content-forward, built and maintained by teams that treat the website as core infrastructure rather than a brochure. The catch, for a North American reader, is geography. TYPO3 is concentrated in German-speaking Europe, with the agency talent and ecosystem to match. It's an excellent fit for a European industrial manufacturer, but likely to be an uphill, unusual choice nearly anywhere else.
