Is Craft CMS right for manufacturers?

Craft CMS is the flexible, content-first choice for manufacturers who want to build something specific. It's a developer favorite and almost always agency-built. Craft runs some of the best-maintained sites we track.

Who Chooses It

Craft CMS powers 167 of the 25,000+ industrial websites we track, ranking 15th of 60 platforms, with a typical site size of around 150 pages.

Its adopter base skews heavily to OEMs, but the telling detail is which ones. Craft over-indexes more than 3-to-1 on makers of engineered machinery – packaging lines, farm and conveyor equipment, and other complex and configurable products that need a real content model behind them. These are the sites that lean on custom-built functionality, unique catalogs, and integrations wired into the ERP and PIM systems that run the business.

Commodity metal fab and job shops, by contrast, appear about a quarter as often as they do across the field. Craft CMS isn't a platform a small shop stumbles into, but the one an agency or in-house developer reaches for when the site has to be built to fit the business. It's the mirror image of WordPress – chosen deliberately, and maintained to match.

A good fit if you're…

  • A mid-to-large OEM with a deep or multi-line product catalog
  • Treating your site as a structured content system
  • Working with an agency or in-house developers
  • Looking for consistency in the CMS without constraints in the frontend

Look elsewhere if you're…

  • A small single-product shop wanting a site you set up and maintain yourself
  • Primarily a distributor or reseller needing a catalog off the shelf
  • Expecting a turnkey website out of the box
  • Without developer or agency support to stand it up and extend it
