GoDaddy is where the smallest shops go. More than half its manufacturers are contract shops, the highest concentration of any platform we track, and the trades run overwhelmingly to local metalworking. Machine shops alone account for one in eight GoDaddy sites, joined by sheet-metal and structural fabricators, tool-and-die makers, platers and finishers, and even pallet builders. These are small, hands-on businesses that make things to order, and their websites reflect it, running to just a few pages that say what the shop does and how to reach it.

What separates GoDaddy from the other small site-building tools is how little deliberation goes into it. GoDaddy is a domain registrar first, and its site builder comes packaged with the address, so a GoDaddy site often means a shop that registered a domain and put up a handful of pages in the same sitting rather than setting out to build a website at all. Where Wix and Squarespace sites tend to run a dozen or more pages, GoDaddy sites are half that or fewer, and almost none grow beyond it.
